Delight Your Clients and Grow Your Migration Consulting Business
A business consultant once said there are only four ways to grow your business:
- Reduce costs (difficult and only short term gain)
- Increase prices (equally difficult if competitors do not move and customers don’t want any more features)
- Sell more to existing customers (but what?)
- Find more customers (by marketing activity).
At Hire A Migrant, we provide migration agents with option 3 and 4.
We provide innovative services at wholesale rates for agents to sell to their clients, and we also provide free business consulting help to migration agents through State Sponsorship Services, a business planning and consulting service.
The migration agent handles the rest of it - visa selection, client control and process management. We do not give visa advice to migrants or employers, we can only discuss visa options with agents.
We can either work through the agent’s office but in the background, or we can work direct with clients under the agent’s instruction. We prefer the first option.
How we work with agents and migrants is shown in the flowchart.
Put briefly:
- Agent recruits and filters candidates and sells in the job search service.
- Hire A Migrant markets the candidates to employers, and negotiates with employers to advertise their vacancies through our network of migration agents.
There are 5 main steps to the process:
- You as agent assess the client with Hire A Migrant assistance available on request,
- We agree strategy for industry choice, profile improvement and geographic location.
- You enrol the client into our system, sending fuller information and appropriate payment.
- Communicate with us as we do our work, and pass our job search reports or job interview details on to the migrant.
- Work with the client to arrange attendance at job interviews (both physical and online).

A good job search strategy is critical for many migrants, as a poor job search effort will see many migrants working at well below their abilities and earning lower income.
It’s also a waste of immigration policy, as the Government wants to bring in people to fill skilled vacancies, not lesser service roles. This could be classified as a failure of migration policy, but it is more a failure of the migrant’s efforts to cleverly market themselves in a new country.
Our service can help speed up visa processing times by allowing a broader choice of visa options. Now agents can consider employer sponsorship and genuine offers of employment in the visa mix. Furthermore, our services provide the only way for many people to migrate, being those who need the points from a job offer or sponsor.
Our speed advantage is tangible, this is from the DIAC web site
“The priority for these skilled migration places are in:
- employer sponsored migration visa categories (such as the Employer Nomination Scheme and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme)
- state and territory sponsored migration visa categories (such as the State/Territory Nominated Independent and Skilled Independent Regional visas) and
- occupations in national shortage (occupations on the Migration Occupations in Demand List).
Therefore, moving your client from a generic MODL based application to an employer sponsored visa may result in faster grant of a visa.
The service options are:
For agents who handle several Job Search clients per year, fees are reduced where the agent holds a license to market our services. A licence is essentially a discount card for bulk clients, much like a concession card for multiple use of rail or bus.
This table explains the concessions and benefits for licensed agents:

This fee structure does not discriminate against unlicensed agents, rather it encourages agents to invest in marketing effort to reach more employers and find more jobs - this is where the substantial part of the license fee is being spent. Agents who help us find more jobs for their client must benefit financially through discounted services.
